New year, new recipes! One of my favorite recipes right now? This Grapefruit Orange Lemon Juice. Not everyone associates citrus with winter, but I do. I can’t get enough of this juice and I make a variation of it every day. It’s refreshing, vibrant and oh so delicious!
If you love juices but cringe at the price of store bought, this homemade recipe is for you. We’ve been juicing for years now, and in the process have perfected this tart yet sweet Grapefruit Orange Lemon Juice recipe. We love making juice at home for more than a few reasons. Most importantly, it's more cost effective than many store bought juices and the ingredients are fresher (and thus more flavorful). This Grapefruit Orange Lemon Juice is perfect for a gloomy winter day. If you don't have an actual juicer at home you can also blend for about 1 minute in your blender (I recommend a Vitamix), and strain through a cheesecloth or nut milk bag.
Four Ingredient Grapefruit Orange Lemon Juice
After all that festive food, this recipe is just what you need to start the new year! Every year one of my resolutions is to eat less sugar. I have a serious sweet tooth but this Grapefruit Orange Lemon Juice is surprising effective at curbing my cravings that start to creep up in the late afternoon.
This lovely blend of grapefruit, orange, lemon and ginger will detox and rejuvenate your body. Grapefruit, orange and lemon make for a balanced blend of citrus, and fresh ginger adds much needed warmth. The ingredients can easily be swapped depending on what you have. I like to add cucumber and fresh turmeric but carrot and lime work well too. Don't forget to dress it up with a sprig of rosemary or thyme!
Juicing Tips
Before you get started, buy a high quality juicer. If buying a juicer, we recommend a slow masticating juicer (like this Hurom), which better preserves the nutrients.
Be sure to buy organic produce whenever possible. If you cannot find organic produce, be sure to wash thoroughly and peel the skin when possible.
Chop produce into small pieces that easily fit down your juicer chute. And don’t rush the juicing process by cramming too much produce down the chute at once, which can overwhelm the juicer and stress the motor / clog the machine.
Strain your juice through a fine mesh sieve for an extra smooth finish.
Want to maximize your juice? Dilute half with water!
Enjoy juice fresh or within 24 hours for best flavor and nutrient content (store leftovers well sealed in the refrigerator).
Save the leftover pulp for use in things like crackers and breads (results will vary depending on the type of pulp you have).

Another great post Lindsey! Lovely article and recipe. Thank you. I love grapefruit. It reminds me of my grandmother who grew them in her garden.
